Coverage is provided for you and your eligible family members while:

Travelling on vacation or business.
On sabbatical, paid or unpaid leave of absence, employee exchange or other such similar absence, providing the trip outside of Canada is fewer than 90 days. If the trip outside of Canada is more than 90 days, no portion of the trip will be eligible for benefits.

Eligible family members travelling more than 90 days for a holiday are covered as long as:

You are actively at work (not on a leave of absence or layoff), and
You and your eligible family members must be registered with and entitled to benefits from any provincial government and medical plan.

Note: Eligible family members who plan to be away longer than six months require a term certificate from Manitoba Health.

If you are on a leave of absence or layoff, your eligible family member is covered for trips of up to 90 days only. If he or she is hospitalized, he or she is covered until release from hospital. In this situation, your eligible family member should contact Manitoba Blue Cross to make arrangements for travel home.
